Peter is a PhD student in Applied Mathematics who is interested in using analytical tools from mathematics to better understand ecological problems.
Peter’s research is focused on the dynamics of marine metapopulations, especially the transient dynamics that can occur in these metapopulations and how to classify different habitat patches into sources and sinks. He has applied his research to study sea lice population dynamics on salmon farms in the Broughton Archipelago with the aim of reducing sea louse outbreaks in this region.
Peter is also interested in undergraduate education and has taught courses in mathematics, biology, and leadership.
Prior to coming to the University of Alberta he received a BSc in Mathematics with a Minor in Biology from the University of British Columbia.
